Wearing Mask in Public Transport

Transportation

The city that never sleeps runs because of the ability to bring our working-class heroes, our frontline workers, and even the tourist who journeys to see the wonders of this city. This can not exist without an affordable and efficient transportation system that can function. For too long we have abandoned and ignored the elderly and disabled community and everyday New Yorkers. We must push for accountability and reform to allow all New Yorkers of all capabilities to go to and from without delays or forced to pay higher fares for poor services which is why we must call for municipal control of the MTA.

Shaeleigh's Plan

  • Fully support the  five-borough ferry system with the expansion from Rockaway Beach 105 point to a Canarsie Pier to Brooklyn Army Terminal/Pier 11

  • Fully support the expansion of the late-night 99 services to Queens District 32

  • Call for greater service and track repairs for the A-Line to combat unreliable service and support working-class families.

  • Fully advocate for the integration of the city’s taxi fleet with Access-A-Ride

  • Fully support the expansion of Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) in all NYC recognized crosswalk areas

  • Fully support equitably implementing e‑bike legalization, including regulations that assist and support food delivery workers

Shaeleigh's Vision

Green Transportation

  • Severino for City Council will support the expansion of the late-night 99 services to Queens District 32, starting with Woodhaven Blvd. Already, Manhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn have the M99, B99, BX99 late-night service from 1 am to 5 am.

  • Support the creation of a five-borough ferry system built of the current city-owned iteration and remain city-owned. Starting with the expansion from Rockaway Beach 105 point to a Canarsie Pier to Brooklyn Army Terminal/Pier 11.

  • Severino for City Council will call for greater service and track repairs for the A-Line to combat unreliable service and support working-class families.

  • Severino for City Council will support efforts for clean school buses. Children are our future and deserve the dignity that comes with a clean school bus.

  • Severino for City Council will support the implementation of new electric MTA buses and retire old buses that do not meet state emissions standards.

Alternative Transportation

  • Severino for City Council will support more programs like Citi Bike to be accessible to Jacob Riis Park, Rockaway Beach boardwalk, and Spring Creek Park.

  • Severino for City Council will support securing bike parking spaces in transportation hubs to promote bicycling for multimodal transit trips.

  • Severino for City Council will support equitably implementing e‑bike legalization, including regulations that assist and support food delivery workers and providing purchase incentives for micro-mobility use.

  • Severino for City Council will eliminate non-medical parking privileges for vehicles with upwards of 125,000 placards, which encourages official corruption and creates public trust.

Accessible and Safe Travel

  • Severino for City Council will support the implementation and maintenance of ADA accessible train stations throughout the New York City metropolitan area. It is a priority that we ensure there is accessibility to our transit system that does not force individuals to make unnecessary detours.

  • Severino for City Council will advocate for the integration of the city’s taxi fleet with Access-A-Ride. Further, there should be an extension of MTA Subway and Buses fare discount to Access-A-Ride.

  • Severino for City Council will support the expansion of Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) in all NYC recognized crosswalk areas to have physical and auditory sensors for the visually and auditory impaired.

  • Severino for City Council will support additional speed cameras to be placed in busy intersections to ensure that violators of speed laws will not get away with putting the lives of New Yorkers. This will help prevent no justice for the victims of hit and run.
